Plan and quota reference

Every limit on every plan in one table, and what happens when you hit each one.

Six plans exist: Free, Plus, and Pro for a single desk; Business Plus and Business Pro for teams; Enterprise by contract. The public pricing page, the plan comparison grid inside Billing, and your Current plan card all read the same catalogue, so the numbers on this page cannot disagree with the numbers on screen.

There is no trial plan and no trial period. Free is the option that needs no payment details. If you were sent a promotion code, it is entered on the checkout page, not inside ErmisAI.

The rule that overrides every table below

If a paid subscription goes past due or is canceled, the entire workspace reverts to Free limits — AI capacity €5, zero monitoring rules, 20 sources, 20 stories delivered per day — and every paid capability switches off. AI generation is blocked outright and new invitations are refused. Nothing else on this page applies until the subscription is back in good standing.

The Current plan card says so directly: AI access is paused, with the body "This subscription is not in good standing, so tenant-billable AI requests are blocked and the workspace runs on Free-plan limits. Settle the open invoice in the billing portal to restore access immediately."

One trap: the Team and Integrations tabs stay visible when a paid subscription lapses, because tab visibility follows the plan you contracted rather than its payment standing. The tab opening is not proof the feature works — everything behind it will refuse.

Business Plus€795 included€15

Free, Plus, and Pro have no team management, so those workspaces are one person by design. Extra seats exist only on the two Business plans, and each one also raises the shared monthly AI capacity: €7 per extra seat on Business Plus, €35 on Business Pro.

Seat count is chosen on the Business plan card inside Plan comparison, using the Seats spinner, and changing it starts a new checkout. There is no seat control on the Current plan card.

Capacity is guaranteed for the billing period you are in. The plan card states the policy: "Your monthly AI capacity is guaranteed for the current billing period. If model costs change, plan capacity is recalibrated only at the next period with at least 30 days’ notice."

What actually spends it

Three actions, all in the story workspace:

  • Generating the first article for a story.
  • The refinement chat.
  • Quick completion.

Nothing else. Fetching sources, grouping articles into stories, and writing the story summaries that arrive in your feed are run by ErmisAI at its own cost and never touch your capacity. A busy feed does not consume your budget — writing does.

The three notifications

Threshold notices land in the notification inbox once per threshold per billing period:

  • 50% of monthly AI capacity used
  • 80% of monthly AI capacity used
  • Monthly AI capacity reached

At 80% and 100%, newsrooms on Free and Plus that are in good standing also receive an upgrade email.

What happens at 100%

AI generation stops with the message AI usage is above the included allowance and overage is disabled. The billing card shows Monthly AI capacity exhausted: "Additional tenant-billable requests will be blocked until the next billing period or a billing override is applied."

Everything that is not AI generation keeps working. New stories still arrive, review still works, and approved stories still deliver.

Overage is off on every plan and there is no control for it anywhere in the product. Only ErmisAI can enable metered overage on a subscription. Until it is enabled, your monthly capacity is a hard stop, not a soft one — you are blocked, not billed. If you need overage, ask through ermisai.com/contact.

Custom tags1040150401501,000
Custom categories825902590400

Things worth knowing about each row:

  • Monitoring rules. Free gets none. The Rules tab still renders in full and the Save rule button still works — the refusal only appears as a toast after you submit. If your plan limit drops below the number of rules you already have, the extra rules stay stored but stop being evaluated, and nothing on screen marks which ones. See Alert rules and notifications.
  • Source cap. Catalogue sources and your own custom feeds count against the same number. The counter is visible on the Selected sources panel in Settings. See Choosing and adding sources.
  • Stories delivered per day. Resets at midnight UTC, not local midnight. A story counts once, on the day it is first released. An external system pulling the export draws on the same allowance. See Getting approved stories out.
  • Custom tags and custom categories. Entries past the cap are dropped when you save, and the warning toast tells you how many.

If ErmisAI cannot read your subscription at the moment the feed is built, the daily delivery cap falls back to the Free value of 20 for that read. A paid newsroom that suddenly starts queueing at 20 stories a day is seeing this, not a downgrade.

What each plan can do

Managed integrations (the Integrations tab exists)NoYesYesYesYesYes
Webhook deliveryNoYesYesYesYesYes
API keysNoNoYesNoYesYes
WordPress deliveryNoNoYesNoYesYes
Team managementNoNoNoYesYesYes

Two details the table cannot show:

  • Managed integrations is the gate on the Integrations tab itself. Without it the section does not appear at all — it is why a Plus newsroom can configure a webhook and a Free one cannot even open the screen. Even when the plan allows it, Integrations is owner-only; admins have no access. See API keys, webhooks and WordPress.
  • Team management needs two things at once: a Business or Enterprise plan, and a workspace that was set up as a team newsroom rather than a desk of one. A solo desk on Business Pro still has no Team tab. See Team, roles and permissions.

The public pricing table carries three further rows — Shared workspaces, Dedicated support, and Custom integrations. Shared workspaces follows team management exactly. Dedicated support and custom integrations are contract terms agreed with ErmisAI, not switches that change anything in the product.

AI rate limits

Separate from capacity, and rarely reached in ordinary editing. They exist to stop one person or one script saturating the newsroom's AI access.

There is also a per-person AI spend ceiling over the same rolling five hours. It is not displayed anywhere in the product; you only learn of it from the message AI usage spend limit reached for the current user window.

These limits are not shown on any screen. They are only visible as an error.

The AI and plan-gate messages above are written in English by the system and are not translated. A newsroom working with a Greek or Polish interface still sees the English text in the toast.

Enterprise

Enterprise is not self-serve. Its card shows Contact rather than a checkout button, and price, seats, support level, and integration scope are all agreed directly.

Its monthly AI capacity is not in the catalogue either — ErmisAI sets it on your workspace as part of the contract. Until that is done, the first AI request fails with AI capacity has not been configured for this workspace yet. Contact support to activate your contracted monthly envelope. If you have just signed and generation fails that way, the capacity has not been applied yet; it is not a fault on your side.

What the public pricing page leaves out

The comparison table on ermisai.com/pricing shows monthly AI capacity, monitoring rules, source cap, and seats included, plus seven capability rows. It does not show:

  • The source cap on Business plans. Business Plus and Business Pro cards show seats included instead of the source cap, so you have to read the Plus and Pro cards (same 80 and 350 caps) to find it.
  • Managed integrations — the capability that actually decides whether the Integrations tab exists.
  • Stories delivered per day.
  • Custom tag and custom category caps.
  • The AI rate limits above.

Plan names, audience lines, and the tier descriptions on that page are English-only, whatever language you are browsing in.

On Free, Plus, and Pro the Monthly AI capacity tile is hidden on the Current plan card, which shows You've used {percent}% of your monthly AI window instead of a euro figure. The plan comparison grid below it still lists every plan's capacity in euros, and invoices are shown in euros. Business and Enterprise also see the amounts in euros on the current plan card itself.
