Creating an ErmisAI account takes one form. You do not pick a plan, you do not enter payment details, and you do not choose between a solo desk and a team newsroom — that choice comes immediately afterwards, during newsroom setup.

Every new account starts on the Free plan.

What the sign-up screen looks like

The screen is split in two. On the left, a newsroom photograph, the ErmisAI wordmark, and the line "Wire stories, shaped for the local desk." On the right, the account form, headed Create a newsroom account with the sub-line "Set up access for monitoring, drafting, review, and delivery settings."

Above the form sits a small label reading New workspace account and a one-line description: "Create the account that will own monitoring, editorial review rules, and downstream delivery settings." That is literal: the account you create here is the one that will own the newsroom you are about to set up.

Across the top of the right-hand column there are three controls:

• Back to site — returns you to the home page.
• A theme toggle.
• A language selector labelled Interface language, offering all ten languages ErmisAI ships: English, Greek, Polish, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian Bokmål, Finnish.

The language you pick here is carried into the newsroom that gets created for you: it becomes both your starting interface language and your starting article language. Both are changeable afterwards, and they are separate settings.

If the form asks for a second step, it is headed Finish setup — "Complete the remaining account details to open your workspace."

The form itself is in English unless you choose Greek

The ErmisAI shell around the form — the panel headings, the "Back to site" link, the language selector — is translated into all ten languages. The account form inside it is only translated for English and Greek. Choose Polish, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian Bokmål or Finnish and you will get a translated page with an English form in the middle of it. This affects the sign-up, sign-in and waitlist forms. The workspace is translated into all ten languages, but some strings stay English in every locale — notably AI capacity notifications, guardrail and billing error messages, and the confidence descriptors. What happens the moment your account exists

You are taken straight into Newsroom setup — a four-step wizard: Workspace, Identity, Coverage, Sources. You cannot reach the feed, the editorial board, monitoring or settings until you finish it and press Go to press.

Step 1 is the consequential one. It asks whether the desk is yours alone or a shared newsroom, and your answer decides where everything you subsequently create lives. Read Set up your newsroom before you start it.

Once setup is complete, signing in lands you on the feed. Everyone lands on the feed — there is no different destination for reviewers or owners.

Signing in later

Use Sign in in the site header, or go to ermisai.com/sign-in directly. The form is headed Access your newsroom desk — "Use the account linked to your workspace and editorial queue."

If you are already signed in and you open ermisai.com, you are sent to the workspace rather than the home page. The rest of the public site — pricing, about, contact and so on — stays reachable while signed in.

If you were invited to an existing newsroom

Start from the invitation email, not from the sign-up form on the website. Invitations are sent to your email address and you join the newsroom from that message.

Once you are in, you still walk the full four-step setup wizard, because setup is tracked per person and not per newsroom — and the wizard will not release you until you have filled in Your title.

Two things to know before you start:

• Only your own title is saved. If you change the publication name, desk name, section or sources on the way through, the newsroom keeps its existing values and you are not told your changes were discarded. Only an owner or admin can change those, from Settings.
• Whoever invited you needs a Business or Enterprise plan to add anyone at all. On Free, invitations are refused.

"New signups are paused"

Sign-up has three possible states, and which one you see is set by ErmisAI, not by anything you did.

The first is the ordinary form. The second is a bordered panel in place of it:

We have temporarily paused new account registration. Please check back shortly - existing accounts are unaffected.

That last part is exact. Pausing sign-ups never affects signing in. Existing accounts, existing newsrooms and existing sessions carry on untouched.

If the waitlist is on

The third state replaces the sign-up form with a waitlist form, under the label Workspace waitlist:

We are onboarding newsrooms in small groups. Join the waitlist and we will email an invitation as soon as a seat opens.

Details worth knowing:

• The web address does not change. The waitlist form appears at the normal sign-up address.
• ermisai.com/waitlist is the direct link. When the waitlist is switched off, opening it sends you to the ordinary sign-up form instead of showing a form that would be rejected.
• Paused beats waitlist. If sign-ups are paused while the waitlist is on, you get the "New signups are paused" panel, not the waitlist form.
• Signing in is unaffected, as always.

What you get on the Free plan

Free is not a time-limited trial. It does not expire into a paid plan and it does not ask for a card — the plan's own summary is "Use the core feed and draft workspace without payment details."

What it includes:

Monthly AI capacity is what composing and refining articles in the story workspace draws down. It resets each billing month.

The feed, the story workspace, compose and refinement, editorial review and approval all work on Free. What you cannot do is push stories anywhere outside ErmisAI, and you cannot run alerts.

What Free does not include:

• Webhook delivery — every paid plan has it; Free does not.
• API keys and WordPress delivery — Individual Pro, Business Pro and Enterprise only.
• Team management and shared workspaces — Business and Enterprise only. You can still pick "A team newsroom" during setup on a Free plan, but you will not be able to invite anyone into it.
• Monitoring rules — the allowance is zero, so alert rules cannot be created at all.

The 20-a-day figure counts approved stories being released to your feed. Anything past the cap disappears from the feed rather than showing a status. The only sign of it is the Queued counter above the list and an amber banner reading "{n} queued for delivery (daily cap resets at midnight UTC)"; opening such a story directly returns "Story is currently queued." Queued stories are released on the next UTC day, capacity permitting.

Plan and quota reference has every plan side by side. Billing and AI capacity covers upgrading, which is done from inside the workspace by the newsroom owner.

If the sign-up page will not load

You may see a panel headed Sign-in is temporarily unavailable — "We could not render the authentication surface. Retry, or come back shortly." — sometimes with a Reference: line, and two buttons, Try again and Go to the homepage.

Two things about this screen:

• The heading says "Sign-in" whichever page you were on. Seeing it on the sign-up page does not mean sign-in is broken.
• Sign-up depends on more moving parts than sign-in does, so sign-up can fail while sign-in keeps working. If you already have an account, try signing in.

Quote the Reference: value if you report it through the contact page — it identifies the specific failure.
